Alex City Community Work Center

The Alex City Community-Based Facility and Community Work Center is a minimum-custody facility and work release center that is located in Alex City, Alabama. This facility has the capacity to house approximately 125 inmates. They are released daily to work and volunteer in the community before returning to the work center in the evenings.

This facility opened in 1974 and has continually offered inmate work and volunteer services to the Tallapoosa County Commission. Some of the programs that inmates participate in include Adopt-A-Mile, where they clean up the sides of local roads and highways one mile at a time.

The Center has an excellent working relationship with Alex City employers and the community, with employment of work release participants typically remaining at 100%.
