South Idaho Correctional Institution Community Work Center

The South Idaho Correctional Institution Community Work Center (SICI) is a minimum-security facility and pre-release center (PRC) that is located in Kuna, Idaho. This facility houses adult male and female inmates who are nearing the end of their sentence with the Idaho Department of Corrections. 

SICI can house a maximum of 590 male residents and 112 female Riders in the PRC who are preparing for release. Residents are required to work, and some have jobs outside of the facility.

Visiting Hours and Rules

Visiting hours at SICI are four days a week and are scheduled according to visiting groups. The visiting center capacity is 85.  If the visiting area reaches capacity, staff will first ask for volunteers willing to end their visit early. If no one volunteers, the staff will end visits based on the following criteria: distance traveled, frequency of visits, and length of current visit.

General Visiting Rules

Attempting to bring contraband into the South Idaho Correctional Institution Community Work Center is a crime in the state of Idaho. Contraband includes (but is not limited to) tobacco, cell phones or telecommunication equipment, controlled/illegal substances, firearms or dangerous weapons, ammunition/explosives, and escape tools or devices. 

If you are caught trying to bring contraband into the South Idaho Correctional Institution Community Work Center, you will be arrested and charged. This crime is punishable by five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

A visitor suspected of being under the influence of intoxicating beverages or drugs will be denied visitation. In addition, visitation privileges may be revoked temporarily or permanently. 

The use of tobacco products on IDOC property is not allowed, to include parking areas. No tobacco can be brought into any facility. All tobacco products must be stored in a locked vehicle.

Visitors over the age of 16 must have valid and current photo identification (a driver’s license, state-issued ID, military ID, or valid/current United States passport). Visitors between the age of 16 and 18 years can also use student ID cards issued by their schools. 

Allowed Items

The following items are allowed in the visiting room: Photo ID, money for vending machines, vehicle keys, and if small children are visiting, a diaper bag. The diaper bag may contain diapers; wipes; a pacifier; two bottles of formula, milk, water, or juice; a container of baby food or cereal.

No cell phones, beepers, laptop/palm computers, cameras, or other electronic equipment is allowed in the visiting room.

Visitors may not give or receive any item from a resident. 

No food or drink from outside the facility is allowed to be brought into the SICI. Visitors may purchase food and drink items from the vending machines but must provide their own change or vending card.

Dress Code

Visitors must wear garments that are conservative and modest. Proper underclothing must be worn. All visitors, including children, must wear shoes -- no bare feet. 

Clothing Not Allowed: sleeveless garments, bare midriffs, scrubs, shorts, cutoffs, miniskirts, hats, caps, bandanas, doo-rags, spandex, and low-cut or see-through clothing. Multi-layered clothing that could be used to conceal contraband, such as coats and sweatshirts, are also not allowed.

Programs For Inmates

SICI operates a pre-release program. Vocational Work Projects include road crews for the Idaho Transportation Department and conservation and fire fighting crews for the U.S. Forest Service.  Some residents work in the Correctional Industries program.
