Jackson County Jail
The Jackson County Jail is located in Scottsboro, Alabama and is operated by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. This facility holds adult male and female inmates who have been arrested by local county or municipal law enforcement. This is the primary detention facility for all law enforcement agencies in Jackson County.
The Jackson County Jail also houses inmates arrested by some of the neighboring county's municipal police departments as well, including Scottsboro, Hollywood, Bridgeport, Section, Pisgah, Woodville, Owens Cross Roads, Gurley, New Hope, and Skyline.
Inmates are incarcerated for crimes ranging from a violation of misdemeanors to felonies. The Jackson County Jail houses:
- Persons who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial
- Those who have been arrested on warrants
- Those who have been sentenced to the county jail for one year or less for a misdemeanor crime
- Those who've been placed on hold by Alabama Probation and Parole
- Inmates sentenced by municipal courts in the county
- People who have been placed in the jail "on hold" by other agencies, and
- Inmates who are waiting to be transferred to their assigned Alabama Department of Corrections facility

How to bond someone out of the Jackson County Jail
Each individual’s bond is based on the nature of the offense charged, and you should contact the Jackson County Jail @ 256-574-1884 to find out the exact type of bond required for your inmate.
A person being held at the Jackson County Jail can be released on his/her own recognizance, through a private bonding company, by the posting of a Property Bond, or by posting a Cash Bond. Cash bonds can not be paid at the Jackson County Jail and must be paid at the JC Clerk's Office or the municipality owed.

Visiting Hours and Rules
Visitation at the Jackson County Jail is done by a video monitoring system. Visits can be scheduled daily from 9 a.m. till 9 p.m., with the exception of Friday which is 4 p.m. till 9 p.m.
There are two ways to schedule an inmate visit -- online or the lobby kiosk. To schedule a visit online, go to www.gettingout.com and create a login or sign into an existing account
Each inmate is allowed one free visit every seven days. Additional visits can be purchased for $7.50 plus taxes and fees. Visits need to be scheduled 24 hours in advance for secure confirmation.

No hand-delivered mail or packages are accepted. Only letters hand written in ink or typed will be accepted, nothing in crayon or non-ink substances. No photocopies or photographs of any sort are accepted. Incoming mail will only be delivered to the inmate it is addressed to.
All incoming mail must have the sender's first and last name, complete address, inmate # and pod location on the envelope. No nicknames will be accepted.
Personal mail received for an inmate will be documented, opened, inspected and may be read before delivery to the inmate.
No incoming mail is accepted if there is any foreign substance on it, appears to be stained, has an aroma, or appears to contain contraband.
How to Call an Inmate
You can't call an inmate who is housed at the Jackson County Jail, but they do have access to phones in their cell blocks through GTL/Telmate. Deposits into an inmate's phone account can be made with a debit or credit card at www.gettingout.com.
There is also a kiosk in the lobby of the Jackson County Jail for making deposits into an inmate's phone account.
How to Send Money
During the booking process at Jackson County Jail, a commissary account is set up for each inmate. If the inmate has money in their possession during the booking process, the money will be taken and placed into their inmate commissary account.
The Jackson County Jail uses Legacy as their commissary vendor, and you can make deposits into the inmate's commissary account online at www.jailatm.com.
You can also use the commissary/visit Kiosk located in the lobby of the Jackson County Jail during normal business hours to deposit money into an inmate's account. When using the commissary kiosk, you will be required to present a valid Driver's License or Identification Card. There is a service fee for each transaction.
