The Perry County Jail (aka the James Hood Detention Facility) is located in Marion, Alabama and is operated by the Perry County Sheriff's Department. This facility holds adult male and female inmates who have been arrested by local county or city law enforcement, and it is the primary detention center for all law enforcement agencies in Perry County.
Inmates are incarcerated for crimes ranging from a violation of misdemeanors to felonies. The Perry County Jail houses:
- Persons who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial
- Those who have been arrested on warrants
- Those who have been sentenced to the county jail for one year or less for a misdemeanor crime
- Those who've been placed on hold by Alabama Probation and Parole

- Inmates who are waiting to be transferred to their assigned Alabama Department of Corrections facility

Visiting Hours and Rules
Visits at the Perry County Jail are conducted in person behind plexi-glass or on a televised screen from another location. Leave all personal belongings, except for your state ID in your vehicle. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and guardians must provide proof of their guardianship.

Your visit may be denied if you do not follow the dress code.
- Revealing/see-through clothing is prohibited.
- Shorts and skirts should reach mid-thigh.
- Sleeves should be at least half-way to your elbow.
- No clothing is allowed with a gang affiliation, a display of drugs, weapons, or profanity, or anything obscene.
