Pinal County Adult Detention Center

The Pinal County Adult Detention Center is located in Florence, Arizona and is operated by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. The jail is the third largest county jail in the state of Arizona, housing a maximum of 1,503 adult male and female inmates who have been arrested by local county or city law enforcement. 

Inmates are incarcerated at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for crimes ranging from violations to misdemeanors to felonies. The facility also houses those who have been charged with a crime and are awaiting trial, as well as state inmates awaiting transfer to the Arizona Department of Corrections.

The Pinal County Jail was selected as a pilot site by the Nationals Sheriffs’ Association for Jail Operations for Accreditation, which is governed by legal based standards established through case law. This facility received its first accreditation in June 2011 and was reaccredited in December 2013 with a, “Level 1,” rating -- the highest score possible. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Jail is the first Arizona Jail to receive their National Accreditation.

**COVID 19 ALERT**

Operational hours and available services at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center are currently restricted (as of October 2021) because of the COVID-19 virus. The main lobby in Florence has COVID restrictions, the substation lobbies are currently closed to the public, and the Detention lobby in Florence is locked, but open by appointment to those needing to conduct business.

The sheriff's department requires facemasks in the main lobby and Detention lobby, along with other COVID-19 precautions. During the pandemic, the Adult Detention center is not accepting Out of County Commitments and has suspended all Work Releases.

Posting A Bond

To post a bond for an inmate at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center, use the Touch Pay Kiosk located in the jail lobby.

You can also pay the Bail at the court jurisdiction (Justice Court, Superior Court) or use a Bail Bond Service. Immigration Bonds are not accepted at this facility. After paying your deposit, please go to the admission window and confirm that the bail was paid.

Visiting Hours and Rules

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office Adult Detention Center has a state-of-the-art on-line video visitation system. Visitors can conduct a video visitation using a computer, as long as it is equipped with high-speed internet and a webcam. Video visitations on-site at the detention center are free. Remote video visits from home cost $6.00 for 20 minutes or $10.00 for 40 minutes.

All video visitors must create a video visit account and schedule 24 hours in advance with Securus Technologies at www.videovisitanywhere.com to be approved. Onsite video visitors must check in at the jail lobby front desk, and they are allowed to only bring their keys and ID.

Video Visitation Schedule

On-site Video Visitation hours are daily between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The public is limited to two (20 minute) on-site visits per person / per inmate / per week. Immediate family members can visit more than one detainee per visit.

There is no limit to the number of remote (off site) video visits.

Visiting Rules

All visitors must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid state issued photo ID with date of birth, and pass a criminal records check prior to visitation authorization. Prospective visitors who have pending felony charges will be denied.

Minor children of inmates are allowed to visit if they are accompanied by another parent or legal guardian. Legal Guardians must provide court documentation of guardianship.

No personal property, food, drink, gum, nor tobacco is allowed in any visitation area.

Visitor clothing must be clean and worn in good repair. Skirts and shorts must be no higher than mid-thigh in length. Sleeveless shirts are permitted, however tank tops, halter tops and spaghetti straps are prohibited. No mid drift shirts nor see-through clothing is permitted.

Restricted Items in the visiting room include: hats, sunglasses, purses, cell phones, and electronic devices. The Pinal County Adult Detention Center does not allow any electronic devices inside the facility. This includes cameras, tape recorders, and cell phones, etc. 

Your visit will be denied if you appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Off-site video visits are also monitored for inappropriate actions and or body exposures.

All visitors at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center are subject to search to include; person, possessions, and vehicles by use of electronic metal detection devices, or a barrier sniff screening by a PCSO Narcotics Detection Service Canine or PCSO staff.

All visitors must successfully clear screening by electronic detection devices/equipment.

A return name and address must appear on the envelope. Failure to follow proper procedure will result in the mail being returned to the sender. 

All mail is scanned into the system for inmates to view on various kiosks and tablets. If you are sending pictures and would like them returned you must include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

All incoming items are screened, and the following items are allowed:

  • Letters & Drawings
  • Money order/checks sent directly to Inmate Accounts. (Checks have to be Cashier, Professional, State or Governmental. No personal checks allowed)
  • Up to ten photos that are 4X6 or smaller. (Pictures must not be pornographic or sexually explicit. Pictures containing any type of gang signs or related material will be denied)
  • Postcards.
  • Publications directly from a publisher, distributor, or authorized retailer.

How to Call an Inmate

You can't call an inmate who is housed at the Pinal County Adult Detention Center, but they do have access to phones in their housing units (after their initial appearance, within 24 hours of their arrest) and can make outgoing collect calls.
