Placer County Corrections
The Placer County Sheriff's Office is located in Auburn,California, and operates two jail facilities—the Auburn Jail and the South Placer Jail.
Both of these Placer County Corrections facilities house adult males and females who have been arrested by county or municipal law enforcement, have not made bail, and are awaiting trial. The facility also houses inmates who have been sentenced to the county jail, as well as inmates being held for transport to the California Department of Corrections.
Auburn Jail
The present Auburn jail facility consists of three medium security dorms, two with a capacity of 92 inmates each, and one with a capacity of 44 inmates; and one maximum-security module with a capacity of 32 inmates.
The dormitory housing units have direct supervision, with a custody officer stationed inside each of the dorms, and indirect supervision from a housing booth. Most of the cells in the Auburn Jail have been doubled-bunked.
The minimum-security barracks used to be in buildings that were originally World War II Army warehouses, built in 1941. The barracks consisted of three housing units, two male and one female, with a combined capacity of 160 inmates, making the total capacity of the Auburn Main Jail 646. However, the Minimum Security Barracks located at the Auburn Jail were closed in 2014, and the inmates moved to the South Placer Jail facility.

Property Release

- Release of motor vehicle keys only
- Release of all property with the exception of clothing
- Release of money
After the initial 72 hours, the only type of property release that will be done is a complete property release, with the exception of clothing and money. This may only be done one time. The only time clothing will be released is when the inmate has been sentenced to state prison. Clothing will not be released until proof of sentencing is confirmed.
Property releases are done only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m.
