Bonding someone out of the Atkinson County Jail
If an inmate has bondable charges, he or she can bond out at any time. A bond can be paid with or without a bail bond agent.
The method (cash/surety) and amount of money needed for bonding someone out of the Atkinson County Jail depends on their charges. Most crimes, but not all crimes, are bondable offenses.

- Cash/Property Bond
When you pay a cash bond, it is refunded to you when all court appearances have been made and the case is discharged, dismissed, or a not guilty verdict rendered. If the arrestee fails to appear or is found guilty, the money will be forfeited.
Please note that cash bonds and property bonds require money orders. No cash, checks, or debit/credit cards. The stores located in Pearson that sell money orders close around midnight.
Property bonds require a valid photo ID and a $20 money order per bond. Property value (land value) must be double that of bond amount. (example: $200 cash bond would require property worth $400)
- Surety Bond
When you use a Bail Bondsman for a surety bond, you will not get a refund. Surety bonds in Atkinson County are only accepted from registered bail agents. For bonding services contact:

Visiting Hours and Rules
Visitation day at the Atkinson County Jail is Saturday from 9:30 to 10:10 and 10:15 to 10:55. Visitation also takes place in the afternoon starting at 12:30 p.m. Individual inmate visiting times are set according to their cell location. Ask your loved one or call the jail for your time.
Each inmate may have a maximum of two visitors during each visitation period. They are permitted to visit each visitor on designated visiting days for a period of 40 minutes.
Jail visits take place at the jail fence at the sidewalk. The jailor will direct you to the appropriate location. You will communicate with your inmate through the fence, while being required to stay three feet from the fence.
Visitors must use the sidewalks when on Jail Property—no walking across the grass and approaching an inmate housing area in an attempt to communicate with the inmates.
Visiting Rules
Visitors under 17 years of age are not allowed to visit an inmate unless accompanied by an approved adult visitor. Children are permitted in the lobby area ONLY on Children’s Visitation Day. Only the biological, adopted or stepchildren of an inmate may visit.
All visitors will be subject to search and may be barred from visitation privileges for cause (intoxication, unruly behavior, creating a disturbance).
All visitors must register at the front counter and are required to show positive identification (photo ID) before being allowed to visit.
Visitors will not be allowed to visit an inmate if they are not on the inmate’s approved visitation list.
Dress Code
Visitors MUST dress appropriately. No provocative and/or revealing clothing will be permitted. If a jailor deems your dress as inappropriate, then you will not be allowed to visit.

How to Call an Inmate
Inmates at the Atkinson County Jail cannot receive incoming phone calls, however, they have access to phones and can make outgoing calls from the inmate housing area daily. Phone calls are recorded and may be monitored at any time.
How to Send Money
Funds may be deposited on an inmate’s account at the jail by giving cash or a money order to the jailor on visiting day. You will be given a receipt for your deposit.
When sending money to an inmate through the mail, please send US Postal Money Orders. Other types of money orders and checks are not accepted. DO NOT SEND CASH. The Sheriff’s Office will not assume responsibility for any cash sent through the mail that is lost or stolen. Mail the money order to:
