  • Deputy sheriffs are responsible for patrolling the county to prevent or observe criminal acts & traffic violations, enforcing state and federal laws and local ordinances, and testify in judicial proceedings.

Detention Officer

General Duties:

  • Assure security of jail
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain pertinent jail records
  • Make necessary security checks of prisoners and facility
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Persons employed in a detention officer position are responsible for receiving and processing prisoners confined to the Baldwin County jail. Additional responsibilities include : ensuring the safe, legal, and human custody and care of persons who are incarcerated.

911 Dispatchers

Annual Salary: $28,825.79 

911 Dispatchers receive, process, and dispatch thousands of calls each month. Their duties include answering all administrative lines for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and answering all 911 lines for Milledgeville/Baldwin County.

General Duties:

  • Dispatching units for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, County and City Fire Departments.
  • Pre-alerting EMS, and Milledgeville Police Dept. on emergency calls and then transferring the call
  • After hours/holidays/weekends, notify/dispatch several county agencies (road dept., animal control, DFCS, etc.)
  • Check wanted persons, driver’s license status, registration status, etc. through the Georgia Crime Information Center
