Barrow County Jail

The Barrow County Jail (aka the Barrow County Detention Center) is located in Winder, Georgia and is operated by the Barrow County Sheriff's Department. This jail houses adult males and females—both felony and misdemeanor offenders—who have been arrested by local county or municipal law enforcement.

The Detention Center is a 372-bed county jail that is primarily a holding facility for men and women charged with a criminal offense waiting for a court appearance and for persons already sentenced but waiting for a transfer to a state or federal facility.

This facility also holds persons found guilty of certain misdemeanors and sentenced to one year or less. The Barrow County Detention Center does not hold juveniles, as they are transferred to a regional youth detention center in Gainesville.

Bonding someone out of the Barrow County Jail

If an inmate has bondable charges, he or she can bond out at any time. A bond can be paid with or without a bail bond agent.

The method (cash/surety) and amount of money needed for bonding someone out of the Barrow County Jail depends on their charges. Most crimes, but not all crimes, are bondable offenses.

  • Cash/Property Bond

When you pay a cash bond, it is refunded to you when all court appearances have been made and the case is discharged, dismissed, or a not guilty verdict rendered. If the arrestee fails to appear or is found guilty, the money will be forfeited.
