Bonding someone out of the Greene County Jail
A criminal bond is a financial guarantee that the arrested person will appear in court on a specified date. A BOND IS NOT A FINE. The person you are posting the bond for must appear before a judge to answer criminal charges.
A fee of $20.00 is charged for every bond that is written by the jail. This fee may be paid in cash and is non-refundable.
If an inmate has bondable charges, he or she can bond out at any time. A bond can be paid with or without a bail bond agent. The method (cash/surety) and amount of money needed for bonding someone out of the Greene County Jail depends on their charges. Most crimes, but not all crimes, are bondable offenses.
- Cash Bond
When you pay a cash bond, it is refunded to you when all court appearances have been made and the case is discharged, dismissed, or a not guilty verdict rendered. Failure to appear at the appointed time will result in forfeiture of the bond amount and may result in a Bench Warrant ordered by the judge.
To sign a cash bond, you must bring a photo identification card and enough cash to cover the bond. The sheriff's office only accepts paper money (no change allowed), money order, or cashier’s check. The entire amount of the cash bond must be paid at the bonding office before the inmate is released.
- Surety Bond
When you use a Bail Bondsman for a surety bond, you will be required to pay a fee (usually equal to 10 to 15 percent of the bond amount) that will not be refunded. Only an approved bondsman may be used.

Visiting Hours and Rules
Inmates have the opportunity to visit with friends and/or family at least twice a week for a minimum of 15 minutes per visit. Inmates in disciplinary separation may have the visitation withheld for up to 14 days. Visiting hours at the Greene County jail are as follows:
Sunday:
1 p.m. - 4 p.m: Male Inmates
4 p.m. - 5 p.m: Female Inmates
Wednesday:

1 p.m. - 3 p.m: Male Inmates
Inmates and visitors are REQUIRED to abide by visitation rules at all times. Each inmate must submit a list of names and addresses of proposed visitors, which is then reviewed to ensure compliance with the following guidelines:
- Persons under the age of 18 may visit only if they are a member of the inmate's immediate family and are accompanied by an adult, parent, or guardian.
- Persons on probation, parole, or other forms of conditional release must obtain permission from both their supervising agency and the Chief Deputy of Detention in order to visit an inmate at the Greene County Detention Center.
- Persons with a criminal history are not automatically excluded, but the nature and the extent of their record is taken into consideration.
- Persons thought to be a threat to facility security and order will be excluded from the visitation list.
Visitors are searched by a staff member of the same sex. In the event that contraband is found, steps will be taken to investigate and prosecute the offender. The visitor will also be removed from the approved visitation list.
Visitation may be terminated at any time if rules are violated, or if the visitor does not produce sufficient ID or falsified identification.
