Screven County Prison
This facility houses convicted state offenders who provide an inmate labor work force for Screven County departments, including public works, solid waste, recreation and facilities management, and for other agencies on request.
Since 1951, this facility has been used as a work camp primarily for state prisoners. Currently, the Screven County Prison houses 148 minimum and medium security-level state prisoners.
There are a total of five housing dormitories within the prison—two dorms that house 36 offenders each, two dorms that house 38 offenders each, and seven isolation/segregation cells in the last dorm.

Visiting Hours and Rules
For visiting hours and information, call the Screven County Prison at 912-863-4555.
During Covid protocols, four approved visitors, per offender, and children of all ages are allowed to attend visitation. Visits are by appointment only. Instructions related to scheduling appointments and additional details about visitation can be found by clicking here.
Family members are allowed to schedule one session for each day of visitation. Visits will be no more than two hours in length. All visitors must be on the offenders approved visitation list.

Programs For Inmates
Screven County Prison provides programs for each offender in custody. They include:
- Advanced Level General Education Diploma Classes (GED) are provided through Ogeechee Technical College.
- Re-entry, Motivation for Change, and Think for Change are provided through the Counseling services
- Vocational Service/OJT programs include barbershop, kitchen, landscaping and fire department, etc.
