Imperial Regional Detention Facility
The Imperial Regional Detention Facility is a private ICE detention center located in Calexico, California, that is managed by the Management and Training Corporation. This is a multi-level custody facility that houses detainees who are in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The maximum capacity is 800 inmates.

Visiting Hours and Rules
Weekday visitation at Imperial Regional Detention Facility is available Wednesday through Sunday between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.
General Rules
Detainees are allowed one hour for visitation. The Assistant Warden may authorize more time for family members traveling long distances. A maximum of two adults and two children may visit at any one time.
Visitors must have a valid, verifiable government-issued identification card to enter the Imperial Regional Detention Facility. To allow enough time to process through security, visitors must arrive 45 minutes in advance of their scheduled visit.
Minors who are visiting must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older) and must not be left unaccompanied in any area of the facility.
All visits are non-contact. Visitors are not allowed to bring items into the visitation area or give any items to detainees. You will be subject to a pat-down search of your person, an inspection of your belongings, and a metal scan search.
If you refuse to cooperate with a search, you will not be allowed to visit. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of the Imperial Regional Detention Facility.
Attorney Visits
Attorneys and paralegals may visit their clients at any time 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Legal representatives may request video teleconference (VTC) meetings by phone at (760) 618-7200 Ext. 111. They may also make a request via email at [email protected].
The email should include the following information:
- Legal representative’s full name
- Legal representative’s contact information, including phone number(s), email address, and Skype ID
- Detainee’s name
- Detainee’s alien number
- A few proposed times/dates for the requested video visit
- A scan of the legal representative’s government issued identification
- A scan of the legal representative’s identification or documentation reflecting their status as an active legal representative, such as a state bar card, attorney license, paralegal license, or similar legal status.
- A scan of the attorney’s DHS Form G-28 (unless this is a pre-representational)
All appointments for VTC meetings or phone calls should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments are scheduled 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are in 30 to 60-minute increments.
Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. When possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance by calling (760) 336-4601. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials.
Clergy Visits
Clergy are allowed to visit detainees housed at Imperial Regional Detention Facility at any time. Arrangements must be made in advance with the chaplain.

When sending a detainee mail through the US Postal Service, you must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus your name and address. The staff at Imperial Regional Detention Facility does not read incoming detainee mail, but they do screen it for contraband.
Sending Packages
Detainees at Imperial Regional Detention Facility are not allowed to receive care packages. However, a detainee may receive items that are considered necessary for travel or release from agency custody with the approval of the Facility Warden. Before you send a package, contact:

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage. This can be sent after receiving approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are accepted.
How to Call an Inmate
You can't call a detainee directly at Imperial Regional Detention Facility. However, if you need to leave an urgent message you can call (760) 618-7200. The message will be given to the detainee.
You must include the detainee's full name, their alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.
How to Send Money
You can send money to a detainee at Imperial Regional Detention Facility by mailing a money order or cashier's directly to:

The money will be taken to the processing area and placed into the detainee's commissary account. The processing officer will issue a receipt. Please, do not send cash.
To Post a Delivery Bond
When a detainee in ICE custody is placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.
Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time.
