COVID 19 Response for Krome SPC
Visitation at the Krome SPC facility has been temporarily suspended. ICE recognizes the considerable impact of suspending personal visitation, so they've asked facility administrators to allow video visits whenever possible. Please call the facility directly for current visiting information.

Administrators at the Krome SPC will continue to collaborate with the CDC, IHSC, and its network of health care providers to provide updates and revise procedures as necessary.

General Rules

All visitors must arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled visit time so they can be processed through security. Visits can last a maximum of one hour. All visits are non-contact.

Adult visitors must have a valid government-issued photo ID card to enter the facility. Minors who are visiting must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older), and must not be left unaccompanied in the waiting room.

Anyone entering the visitation area is subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. If you refuse to cooperate with a reasonable search, you will not be admitted. 

No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility.  No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed.

Visitor parking is available but limited.  Parking is located between the Main Gate and the Administration Building.

Dress Code

Female Visitors Age 12 and Older

  • Shorts must cover the buttocks and crotch area, both when standing and sitting. Shorts can be no higher than two inches above the knee when standing to comply.  Short-shorts, jogging shorts, cut-off, and other obviously inappropriate short garments are prohibited. 
  • Skirts and dresses can be no higher than two inches above the knee when standing. 
  • Slits in skirts and dresses can be no higher than two inches above the knee when standing.
  • Sheer (see-through) clothing is prohibited
  • The top of clothing can't be lower than the underarm in the front and back. Bare midriffs and strapless tops, tube tops, and swimsuits are prohibited.
  • Shoes shall be worn at all times.
  • Gang “colors” and other gang displays are prohibited.

Male Visitors Age 12 and Older

Attorney Visits
Attorneys and paralegals may visit detainees at the following times:

Mondays through Fridays: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays: 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. When possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance by calling (305) 207-2100. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials. 

Clergy Visits
Clergy are allowed to visit detainees housed at Krome North Service Processing Center at any time. Arrangements must be made in advance by calling the chaplain's office.

When sending a detainee mail through the US Postal Service, you must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus your name and address. The staff at Krome North Service Processing Center does not read incoming detainee mail, but they do screen it for contraband. 

Sending Packages

Detainees at Krome North Service Processing Center are not allowed to receive care packages. However, a detainee may receive items that are considered necessary for travel or release from agency custody with the approval of the ICE Deportation Officer.

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage. This can be sent after receiving approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are accepted.

How to Call an Inmate

Detainees at Krome North Service Processing Center can't receive incoming calls. However, if you need to leave an urgent message you can call (305) 207-2202. The message should include the detainee's full name, their alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.

How to Send Money

You can send money to a detainee at Krome North Service Processing Center by mailing a money order or cashier's check directly to the detainee. Do not send cash. The processing officer will put the money into the detainee's account and issue a receipt.

To Post a Delivery Bond

When a detainee in ICE custody is placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.

Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time. Acceptable forms of payment are: 

  • money orders
  • cashier’s checks 
  • certified checks

Payments must be made payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security” or “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
