Visiting Hours and Rules

Visiting hours at Boone County Jail are based on the detainee's last name and are as follows:

Last name begins with A-M         Tuesdays 7:30 am to 10:00 am
Last name begins with N-Z          Thursdays 7:30 am to 10:00 am
All Detainees                                   Saturdays 7:30 am to 10:00 am

General Rules

Detainees are allotted 30 minutes to visit on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 15 minutes on Saturdays. All visits are non-contact.

To allow enough time to process through security, visitors should arrive 45 minutes in advance of their scheduled visiting time.

Adult visitors must have a valid photo ID to enter the facility. Minors who are visiting must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older).

All visitors (adults and minors) are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. If you refuse to cooperate with a reasonable search, you will not be admitted. 

No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of the Boone County Jail. You are not allowed to pass any items to detainees.

Visitor parking is available next to the facility.

Attorney Visits
Attorneys and paralegals may visit detainees at any time, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. When possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance by calling (708) 449-2488. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials. 

Clergy Visits
Clergy are allowed to visit detainees housed at Boone County Jail at any time. However, arrangements must be made in advance through the chaplain's office.

When sending a detainee mail through the US Postal Service, you must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus your name and address. The staff at Boone County Jail does not read incoming detainee mail, but they do screen it for contraband. 

Sending Packages

Detainees at Boone County Jail are not allowed to receive care packages. However, a detainee may receive items that are considered necessary for travel or release from agency custody with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer.

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage. This can be sent after receiving approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are accepted.

How to Call an Inmate

Detainees at Boone County Jail can't receive incoming calls. However, if you need to leave an urgent message you can call (859) 334-2143.

The message should include the detainee's full name, their alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.

How to Send Money

You can send money to a detainee at Boone County Jail by mailing a money order or cashier's check directly to the detainee. Do not send cash. The processing officer will put the money into the detainee's account and issue a receipt.

To Post a Delivery Bond

When a detainee in ICE custody is placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.

Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time. Acceptable forms of payment are: 

  • money orders
  • cashier’s checks 
  • certified checks

Payments must be made payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security” or “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
