Visiting Hours and Rules

Visiting hours at Bristol County Detention Center are Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 10:40 am and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

General Rules

All adult visitors must have a valid photo ID to enter the facility. Minors who are visiting must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older). All visitors should arrive at least 45 minutes prior to their scheduled visiting time to allow for enough time to process through security.

Visits are non-contact and may last up to one hour.

Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visiting area or pass any items to detainees. No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of the Bristol County Detention Center. 

All visitors (adults and minors) are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. If you refuse to cooperate, you will not be allowed to visit.

There is a visitor’s parking lot on site at this facility.

Attorney Visits

Attorneys and paralegals may visit detainees daily between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.

Consular Visits

Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. When possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance by calling (781) 359-7500. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials. 

Clergy Visits

Clergy are allowed to visit detainees housed at Bristol County Detention Center at any time. Arrangements must be made in advance through the chaplain's office.

When sending a detainee mail through the US Postal Service, you must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus your name and address. The staff at Bristol County Detention Center does not read incoming detainee mail, but they do screen it for contraband. 

Sending Packages

Detainees at Bristol County Detention Center are not allowed to receive care packages. However, a detainee may receive items that are considered necessary for travel or release from agency custody with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer. Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage. This can be sent after receiving approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are accepted.

How to Call an Inmate

You can't call a detainee at Bristol County Detention Center. However, if you need to leave an urgent message you can call (508) 995-6400. The message should include:

  • The detainee's full name
  • The detainee's alien registration number
  • A telephone number where you can be reached

How to Send Money

You can send money to a detainee at Bristol County Detention Center by mailing a money order or cashier's check directly to the detainee. Do not send cash. The processing officer will put the money into the detainee's account and issue a receipt. Cashier’s check or money order must include the detainee’s full name and A-number.

To Post a Delivery Bond

When a detainee in ICE custody is placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.

Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time. Acceptable forms of payment are: 

  • money orders
  • cashier’s checks 
  • certified checks

Payments must be made payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security” or “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
