Visiting Hours and Rules

Visiting hours at St. Clair County Jail are from Sunday to Thursday, between 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm., with the exception of dinner hour (5 p.m.).

General Rules

All visits are scheduled by the detainee, and up to three people are allowed per visit. All visitors must arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled visit time to allow enough time to process through security.

All adult visitors must have a valid, verifiable government-issued photo ID to enter the St. Clair County Jail. Minors who are visiting the facility must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older) at all times.

All family or other social visits are non-contact. All visitors are subject to search while in the facility. You are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area, and are not allowed to pass any items to detainees. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility.

Attorney Visits
Attorneys and paralegals may visit detainees daily between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. 

Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. Whenever possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance of the visit. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials.

All mail sent to detainees must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus the sender’s name and address. Staff does not read the mail but does screen for contraband. 

A detainee may receive items that are necessary for travel or release from agency custody with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer. Before sending packages to detainees, contact the Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer at the Detroit ERO Office by calling (313) 568-6049.

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage. You can send the luggage after getting approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security purposes, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are allowed.

How to Call an Inmate

You can't call a detainee at St. Clair County Jail, but you can leave a message. If you need to contact a detainee, call (810) 987-1721. Your message must include the detainee’s full name, alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.

When a detainee receives money in the mail, it's taken to the processing area and placed into their account. The processing officer will provide a receipt for all funds received. Detainees should not have cash sent to them in the mail.

To Post a Delivery Bond

Delivery bonds are posted when a person has been taken into ICE custody and placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.

Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm, local time.   • cashier’s checks 
  • certified checks
