Visiting Hours and Rules
Visiting hours at Sherburne County Jail Services are:
- Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
General Rules
You are not allowed a video visit with a detainee unless you are on their approved visitation list. Detainees may change their visit list every 30 days, and are allowed up to five visits per day. To check if you are on the list, you must call the facility during business hours.
Visitors are allowed one 20 minute visit per day. The visitation area is located at the southwest end of the building, please look for signs indicating video visitation.
Visitors must be 18 years of age or older, or accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. All visitors must possess valid identification or a driver's license at the time of visiting.
- All social visits are non-contact.
- All visitors are subject to search while in the facility.
- Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
- Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.

Attorneys and paralegals may visit detainees Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 9:30 PM.
Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. Whenever possible, prior arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials.

All mail sent to detainees must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus the sender’s name and address. Staff does not read the mail upon opening. For safety reasons, all incoming mail is subject to screening for contraband.
A detainee may receive items necessary for travel or release from agency custody with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer. Before sending packages to detainees, contact the St. Paul ICE/ERO Office at 612-843-8600.
Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage. This can be sent after getting approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer.
For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are accepted.
How to Call an Inmate
You can't directly call a detainee at Sherburne County Jail Services, but you are allowed to leave a message. If you need to contact a detainee, call (763) 765-3800. Your message must include the Detainee’s full name, Alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.
How to Send Money

When a detainee receives money in the mail, it's taken to the processing area and placed into their account. The processing officer will provide a receipt for all funds received. Detainees should not have cash sent to them in the mail.
You may leave cash for detainees Monday – Friday during morning and afternoon visiting sessions only. Money orders and checks will not be accepted.
To Post a Delivery Bond
Delivery bonds are posted when a person has been taken into ICE custody and placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.
Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time. For a list of ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nearest you or for bond information, click here. You must have the last name of the detainee and their alien registration number before calling.
Acceptable forms of payment are:
- money orders
- cashier’s checks
- certified checks
Payments must be made payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security” or “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
