Visiting Hours and Rules
The general visiting hours at Nevada Southern Detention Center are:
Thursday/Friday 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday/Sunday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
General Rules
Each detainee is allowed one hour for visitation one time per week. More time may be authorized by the Chief of Security for family members traveling significant distances. However, approval depends upon the number of visitors and staff availability.
A maximum of two adults and two children may visit at any one time. This regulation will be interpreted flexibly and is subject to exceptions.
All visitors must arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit time for processing. Adult visitors must have a government-issued photo identification card to enter the facility.
Minors who are visiting must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older). Minors must not be left unaccompanied in the waiting room, visiting room or any other area.
Visiting Restrictions
- All social visits with family and friends are non-contact.
- If visitors are or appear to be intoxicated, the visit will not be allowed.
- All visitors are subject to search.
- Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
- Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.
Search Procedures
All visitors are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. If you refuse to cooperate you will not be admitted. No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted.
Attorney Visits
Legal representatives of detainees are authorized to visit their clients five days a week from 8 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., including holidays.
Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. rior arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer whenever possible. Consular officials should bring appropriate credentials when they come to the facility. The ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer can be reached at (702) 388-6253.
Clergy Visits
Clergy is allowed to visit detainees at any time, but they must make prior arrangements with the Chaplain’s Office.

All mail sent to detainees must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus the sender’s name and address. For safety reasons, all incoming mail is subject to screening for contraband. Staff does not read the mail upon opening.

Detainees being removed from the United States are allowed one small piece of luggage, which can be sent after getting approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) are accepted.
How to Call an Inmate
Detainees at Nevada Southern Detention Center cannot receive incoming calls. To leave an urgent message, you must call (775) 751-4500.

How to Send Money
You can send money to a detainee at Nevada Southern Detention Center by mailing them a check or money order directly. The processing officer will provide a receipt for all money received. Do not send cash.

To Post a Delivery Bond
Delivery bonds are posted when a person has been taken into ICE custody and placed into removal proceedings while in the United States. When posting a delivery bond, you must show proof of identity.
Bonds for aliens detained by ICE may be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time. For a list of ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nearest you or for bond information, click here. You must have the last name of the detainee and their alien registration number before calling.
Acceptable forms of payment are: money orders, cashier’s checks or certified checks. Payments must be made payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security” or “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
