Visiting Hours and Rules

Visiting hours at Roger D Wilson Detention Facility for on-site video visits are daily between 8:00 am to 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. For the first session, the last scheduled visit will be at 1:00 pm. For the second session, the last scheduled visit is at 5:30 pm.

For remote video visits from home, visiting hours are daily from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The last scheduled visit for the first session is at 1:00 pm. For the second session, the last scheduled visit is at 8:30 pm.

General Rules

Anyone scheduling a remote or on-site video visit must register with JAILATM.COM and provide full name, address, contact information and valid driver’s license or state issued identification.

Remote visitors are required to log in to their accounts using their credentials prior to visits. Onsite visitors must check in at the Knox County Visitation Center with their valid driver’s license or state identification card.

Attorney and Professional Visits
Professional visitors include attorneys, clergy, and law enforcement officers. They must present a photo ID and credentials to the Checkpoint Security Staff before being allowed a full contact, confidential visit with the detainee.

Rules that apply to the general public also apply to professional visitors. Professional visitors are subject to pat down searches, and will be allowed to enter secured areas. 

Professional visitors may also use the external remote or onsite video visitation option after creating an account with JAILATM.COM.

Attorneys who use video visitation can request privileged communications (non-recorded) with their clients by contacting jail administration after creating an account with JAILATM.COM.

Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time, seven days a week. Whenever possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance of the visit. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials.

All detainee mail must include the last four digits of their Alien number, plus the sender’s name and address. The staff at Roger D Wilson Detention Facility does not read detainee mail, but they do screen for contraband. 

Sending Packages

Detainees are not allowed to receive care packages. However, they may receive necessary travel items when scheduled for transfer or release from agency custody, with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer. Before sending a package, contact the Intake Center at the facility at (865) 281-6740.

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed to have one small piece of luggage. You can send the luggage and travel items after getting approval from the Supervisory Deportation Officer. For security reasons, you are not allowed to send electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.).

How to Call an Inmate

You can't call a detainee at Roger D Wilson Detention Facility, but if you need to contact a detainee you can call the Lieutenant of Operations on duty at (865) 281-6700 and leave a message.

The message must include their full name, alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached. Your message will be given to the detainee.

When a detainee receives money in the mail, a mailroom officer takes it to the processing area and puts it into their account. The processing officer will provide a receipt for all funds received. 

To Post a Delivery Bond

When someone is taken into ICE custody and placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.

Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 3 pm, local time.
