General Rules
All adult visitors must present a valid, government-issued photo ID to enter the Burnet County Jail. Minors must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older at all times. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled visiting time to allow for processing through security.
All visitors (adults and minors) are subject to search. This includes a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of belongings, and a metal scan search. If you refuse to cooperate with a reasonable search, you will not be admitted.
All visits are non-contact. Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area, and they are not allowed to pass any items to detainees.
No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility. No firearms or weapons of any kind are allowed on the facility grounds.
Attorney Visits
Legal representatives of detainees may visit their clients seven days a week, 24 hours per day. Including weekends and holidays. If the visit is after normal business hours, contact a Supervisor at (512) 715-8600.
Consular Visits
Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. When possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance by calling (512) 236-6315. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials.
Clergy Visits
Clergy are allowed to visit detainees housed at Burnet County Jail at any time. To make arrangements in advance (which is required), call the chaplain's office.

When you send letters to detainees, you must include their name and A-number in the mailing address on the envelope. You must also include your name and address in the envelope's "return address" section. Staff does not read incoming inmate mail, but they do check it for contraband.
Sending Packages
Detainees are not allowed to receive care packages. However, a detainee may receive items that are considered necessary for travel or release from agency custody with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer.

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed to have one small piece of luggage. If a detainee does not already have baggage, they may have one 40 lb bag sent after receiving approval from the Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer.
For security reasons, no electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) can not be included in the luggage.
How to Call an Inmate
You can't call a detainee at Burnet County Jail. However, if you need to leave an urgent message, you can call (512) 715-8600. The message should include the detainee's full name, their alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.
How to Send Money
To send money to a detainee at Burnet County Jail, mail a money order or cashier's check directly to the detainee. Do not send cash.
The processing officer will deposit the money into the detainee's account and issue a receipt. Cashier’s checks and money orders must include the detainee’s full name and A-number.

To Post a Delivery Bond
When a detainee in ICE custody is placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.
Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time.
