Eden Detention Center

The Eden Detention Center is a private, medium-security ICE detention facility that is located in Eden, Texas. This facility is managed by CoreCivic and houses detainees who are in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Freedom of Information Act Requests

All Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act requests must be submitted on form G-639 or in letter format. All requests must contain the original, notarized signature of the subject in question. 

You must include the full name, date and place of birth, an A-number of the alien you are seeking information about. You must also include your full name, address, and telephone number, so that you can be contacted if they have any questions.

General Rules

Visitors should arrive early to allow for processing through security. Visits are non-contact and are a minimum of one hour. Only four visitors are allowed per visit.

All adult visitors must have a valid, government-issued photo ID to enter the Eden Detention Center. Minors must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older) at all times. 

All visitors (adults and minors) are subject to search. This includes a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of belongings, and a metal scan search. If you refuse to cooperate with a reasonable search, you will not be admitted. 

Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area, and under no circumstances are they allowed to pass any items to detainees. Electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are prohibited in the visiting room.

Attorney Visits

Legal representatives of detainees may visit their clients Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eden Detention Center requires a 24 hour notice prior to the requested visiting time. An exception can be made if there is an emergent hearing, but documentation must be provided.

Consular Visits

Consular officials are allowed to meet with their detained nationals at any time. When possible, arrangements should be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer in advance by calling (325) 869-2704 ext. 63301. All consular officials should bring appropriate credentials. 

Clergy Visits

Clergy are allowed to visit detainees housed at Eden Detention Center at any time. Arrangements must be made in advance through the chaplain's office by calling (325) 869-2704 ext. 62260.

When sending mail to detainees, you must include their name and A-number in the mailing address. You must also include your name and address in the envelope's "return address" section. Staff does not read incoming inmate mail, but they do check it for contraband.

Sending Packages

Detainees are not allowed to receive care packages. However, they are allowed to receive items that are considered necessary for travel or release from agency custody, with approval of the ICE Deportation Officer. Before sending packages to detainees, contact Mail Room Supervisor Amber Gierisch at 325-869-2704 Ext. 62261.

Detainees who are being removed from the United States are allowed to have one small piece of luggage. If a detainee does not already have baggage, they may have one 40 lb bag sent  after receiving approval from the Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer. 

For security reasons, electronic devices (cell phones, electric razors, laptop computers, radios, etc.) can not be included in the luggage.

How to Call an Inmate

You can't call a detainee at Eden Detention Center. However, if you need to leave an urgent message, you can call (325) 869-2704 ext. 62260.

Your message must include the detainee's full name, their alien registration number, and a telephone number where you can be reached.

How to Send Money

To send money to a detainee at Eden Detention Center, you must mail a money order or cashier's check to the Core Civic Inmate Trust. Do not send cash. 

Cashier’s checks and money orders must include the detainee’s full name and A-number. Mail the cashier's check or money order to:

To Post a Delivery Bond

When a detainee in ICE custody is placed into removal proceedings while they are in the United States, a delivery bond may be posted. When you post a delivery bond, you are required to show proof of identity.

Bonds for aliens detained by ICE can be posted at ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nationwide, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., local time. For a list of ICE ERO bond acceptance offices nearest you or for bond information, click here. You must have the last name of the detainee and their alien registration number before calling. 

Acceptable forms of payment are: 

  • money orders
  • cashier’s checks 
  • certified checks

Payments must be made payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security” or “Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
