It has been under contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections since January 2014, and now provides custody for up to 2,000 adult male inmates. Red Rock opened in 2006, and it is operated and managed by CoreCivic, Inc.

Visiting Hours and Rules

Visiting hours at Red Rock Correctional Center are on Fridays, Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays, and there are two sessions: 8:00 a.m. to noon and noon to 4:00 p.m. However, the specific days and times depend on the housing unit.

How To Get On The Approved Visit List
An inmate may visit with identified family members, friends, and clergy who have been selected by the inmate and pre-approved by ADC to visit.

Every newly committed inmate completes and submits a Visitation List, identifying up to 20 individuals they would like to have visit them. Before being allowed to visit however, an individual selected by an inmate must complete an Application to Visit an Inmate.

You can fill out this form online or print it out and mail it in to the visitation office. Do not mail it directly to the inmate.

You must also pay a one-time $25 fee for a background check. You can make this payment online or mail in a money order with a paper application. If this fee is not paid, the visitor application will not be processed and you can’t visit an inmate.

With the exception of food brought in for food visits, cigarettes, and disposable baby items (diapers, wipes), each visitor must leave the visitation area with the exact property items they went in with.

Here is a list of items you are allowed to bring into a visit:

  • Photo ID
  • Prescription medication
  • One unopened package of cigarettes and/or one e-cigarette - Smoking may be prohibited in some visitation areas.
  • Money - no more than $40.00 in coins per visitor.
  • Jewelry - One wedding/engagement ring, one religious medallion, one wristwatch and one pair of earrings
  • Keys
  • One handheld baby carrier, per infant - Strollers or carriers with wheels shall not be permitted.
  • One clear plastic diaper bag, per infant – The diaper bag shall be subjected to a thorough search prior to entry. A diaper bag may contain only the following items:
    • Baby bottle - Three clear-plastic baby bottles of milk/formula or equivalent size unopened, commercially sealed containers of juice.
    • Baby food - Four small clear plastic containers (such as, Tupperware container) of soft food or baby food.
    • Diaper - One diaper for each hour of visitation.
    • Sani-wipes - One clear container or Ziploc bag of baby sani-wipes.
    • Blanket - One blanket, measuring no larger than 4' by 4'. The blanket cannot be tan in color.
    • Spoon - One small plastic spoon used to feed an infant.
    • Pacifier - One baby pacifier.
    • Clothing - One change of baby clothing.
    • Bib - One baby bib.
    • Diaper rash medication - One small tube of diaper rash medication.

Remember, when you visit an inmate at Red Rock Correctional Center:

  • Bring proper identification
  • Observe the dress code
  • Conduct yourself appropriately for a family setting
  • Supervise your children
  • Bring only allowable items with you

You will not be allowed to leave anything with or for an inmate.  As a reminder - you, your vehicle, and any items you bring onto prison property are subject to search.

For incoming mail, the following information must be included on any incoming correspondence sent to inmates/residents:

  • Inmate’s complete first and last name (name under which inmate is incarcerated)
  • Inmate’s correct ADC identification number
  • Inmate’s unit name
  • Facility name and address
  • Name and full address of the sender

Incoming mail must have a return address including sender's name and complete street address or PO Box. All correspondence addressed to inmates at Red Rock must be sent through the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:  

  • Maps of the city where the facility is located or surrounding communities  
  • Polaroid photographs  
  • Photo negatives/slides  
  • Photo albums  
  • Photos of current or former employees  
  • Framed photos  
  • Greeting cards larger than 8 ½ X 11  
  • Greeting cards containing electronic or other non-paper parts  
  • Greeting cards constructed in such a way to permit concealment of contraband  
  • Used or unused postage stamps  
  • Stickers, labels, address labels, or decorative stamps  
  • Items that are glued, taped, stapled, or otherwise affixed to a page

How to Call an Inmate

Inmates who are incarcerated at Red Rock Correctional Center can’t receive incoming calls. However, the inmates do have access to telephones, and they can make collect calls or prepaid calls during approved hours.
