Fremont Correctional Facility

Fremont Correctional Facility is a Colorado state prison for male inmates of all custody levels that is located in Cañon City, Colorado. It is part of the East Cañon prison complex and houses a maximum of 1,661 inmates.

Approximately 85 percent of inmates at Fremont Correctional Facility are incarcerated for sexual offenses due to the sex offender treatment program. There are also inmates at FCF who are serving sentences for drug crimes, and the facility offers a substance abuse treatment program for them.

Visiting Hours and Rules

Before you can visit an inmate at Fremont Correctional Facility, you must first fill out a visiting application. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian needs to complete a Form 300-01G Authorization for Minor Child Visitation.

If you are traveling a long distance to visit or wish to request an extended visit, you have the option to submit a Special Visitation Application.

Visiting Hours are on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 9:00 a.m and 3:45 p.m.

Email must be received from a personal email account ~ not a public account (ie. Public Library) as they cannot be responded to. Reservations will be accepted Monday at 7:30 a.m. through NO LATER THAN 9:00 a.m. Thursday.  

Appointments will be prioritized by when they are received.  Visitors are allowed to visit on Friday/Saturday or Friday/Sunday. Visiting is not allowed on Saturday/Sunday.

Visitor processing will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. on visiting days at the East Cañon Complex Visiting Center. 

Transportation to FCF will be provided at East Cañon Complex Visiting Center. Departures times are as follows:

  • 8:50 AM
  • 9:30 AM
  • 11:50 AM
  • 1:45 PM

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled bus departure for processing. Inmates at FCF are allowed to receive 3 adults and up to 4 children during visits.

Visitor Entry, Searches, and Procedures

If you are 18 or older, you must present a valid picture identification prior to admission for visiting. Acceptable identification include:

  • Driver's License with picture
  • State identification card with picture
  • Passport
  • Military identification

All visitors, their vehicles, and articles of property in their possession are subject to a search. If you refuse, you will be denied the visit and will be required to leave the property.

If you are bringing an infant to a visit, you are allowed to bring baby food containers, but they must be factory sealed. No open food containers or food without containers will be permitted. 

Two (2) baby bottles containing food, water, milk, or juice may be taken into the visiting area for each baby. Diaper bags may be taken into the visiting area with two (2) clean diapers, two (2) baby toys which can be easily checked for contraband, and one (1) change of clothes. The diaper bag must be left under staff supervision.

Vending machines are available in the visiting room, so you can buy food and beverages for yourself and the inmate.

You can’t bring electronic devices into the visiting room. 

Expect to walk through a metal detector before your visit. Pat searches will also be conducted on as many visitors as time permits upon visitor entry. 

It’s best to leave most items in your car. You must have a Photo ID, but other than that, keep it simple and just bring in your car keys and money for the vending machines. 

Dress Code

Keep it modest! You don’t want to wear revealing or see-through clothing, or anything that resembles what the inmates wear (solid green or solid orange). No dresses, skirts, or shorts that are above the knee, no jackets, hats, or scarves.

Make sure to always include the following on all of your correspondence:

  • The inmate’s name
  • The inmate’s DOC number
  • Your return address

Do not mail contraband, cash, personal checks, or money orders. Do not use envelopes that are padded, plastic, or cardboard. And, you can’t use stickers or decorative stamps.

You are not allowed to send postage stamps, stamped envelopes, blank stationery, blank writing paper, blank cards, blank postcards, or blank personal journals.

Polaroid photos are not allowed.

How to Send Money
