Limon Correctional Facility
Limon Correctional Facility is a Colorado state prison for men located in Limon, Colorado. This facility houses inmates of all custody levels and has a maximum capacity of 960 inmates.
LCF houses some of the most dangerous inmates in the Colorado Department of Corrections and there is a lot of violence inside the walls.
In October 2002, inmate Edward Montour Jr. beat correctional officer Eric Autobee to death in the LCF’s kitchen. In 2004, numerous inmates stabbed fellow inmate Jeffrey Heird to death, and two received the death penalty.
In 2007, an inmate used a box cutter to cut the throat of officer Pam Kahanic. Officer Kahanic survived and eventually went back to work. In 2015, inmate Joshua Edwards died from strangulation and a stab wound to the neck.
