Coffee Correctional Facility

Coffee Correctional Facility is a medium-security facility for adult male inmates that is managed by CoreCivic, under contract with the Georgia Department of Corrections. It is located in Nicholls, Georgia, and it can house up to 3,032 inmates. 

The mission of this facility is to ensure public safety and effectively house offenders while operating a safe and secure facility. Also, to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for the offenders in which rehabilitation is a primary goal, and to provide an atmosphere and opportunities for successful reintegration into society through the use of discipline, constructive classification, education, employment training and social programs.

The housing at Coffee Correctional Facility consists of eight buildings (five open dorms and three, two-man cells dorms) and one segregation/isolation unit. This facility also houses a tactical squad.

Visiting Hours and Rules

Coffee Correctional Facility visiting hours for the general population are on Saturdays, Sundays, and state holidays from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. They do follow an alternating schedule, with last names M-Z on Saturday and A-L on Sundays. 

You must fill out an application and be approved by the Georgia Department of Corrections before you can visit an inmate at Coffee Correctional Facility. For complete details about the visiting process, click here.

The only items you can bring to a visit are:

  • an identification card (All visitors, age 16 and over, must have a photo ID)
  • car keys
  • a maximum of twenty dollars ($20.00) in coins to be used for the vending machines

Coffee Correctional Facility does not allow visitors to bring in outside food and beverages into the visiting roomㄧother than bottled formula or store-bought products for babies. Phones or electronic devices of any kind are prohibited in the visiting area.

You will be searched by electronic surveillance instruments (metal detectors, etc.) when you arrive, and anything you bring into the facility will be searched by officers assigned to the visitation area.

Visitors must wear appropriate clothing, and shoes are required at all timesㄧincluding children if they are able to walk or stand. 

Male visitors are required to wear shirts and full-length trousers. Females may wear trousers, or if a female visitor wears a dress, skirt, or other similar garment, it may NOT be more than two (2) inches above the knees. Furthermore, all female visitors must wear undergarments, such as bras, panties, and slips. 

Inappropriate clothing includes, but is not limited to:  

  • Shorts 
  • Crop tops 
  • Sleeveless tops 
  • Sheer /see-through apparel 
  • Pants with holes 
  • Revealing clothing (i.e. low cut tights, spandex/stretch pants) 
  • Flip-flop shoes 
  • All white clothing resembling the inmate's uniforms 
  • Clothing bearing gang affiliation, alcoholic beverages, or offensive language 

Jackets must remain on the visitor or neatly folded in the possession of the visitor at all times. No exchange of clothing, jewelry, or any other items between the inmate and a visitor is allowed.

Video Visits

Coffee Correctional Facility does offer video visits through JPay. You must have a JPay account, and the video visit can last up to 30 minutes. The fee for a 30-minute video visit is $3.95.

The return address section must contain the sender's full name and address. Mail that does not contain this information will be returned to the sender. Inmates are not limited on the quantity of mail (letters or postcards) received. However, inmates are not allowed to receive more than 20 photos; Polaroid photos are not allowed. 

All mail, including publications will be inspected by assigned mailroom staff. Material that is deemed to be inappropriate will not be allowed. 

Some examples of prohibited material are: 

  • Gang related material or photos showing gang activities
  • Sexually explicit material either in language or photos 
  • Suspicious mailings (oily stains, discolorations, glue, tape, foil, etc..) 
  • Graphic violence 
  • Tattoo Patterns 
  • Drug paraphernalia 
  • Information regarding weaponry (guns, rifles, bombs, explosives , or other weapons)  
  • Identity theft o Escape methods 
  • Gambling strategies 
  • Survival Strategies 
  • Maps of the city where the facility is located or surrounding communities 
  • Greeting cards larger than 8"x10," containing electronic or non-paper parts, or constructed in a way to conceal contraband

In addition to regular mail, you can send a package to an inmate through the Georgia Inmate Package Program. However, your own homemade packages are not allowed. Inmates are allowed one package per month.

With a JPay account, you can also send and receive videograms and emails, which cost between one and three stamps each.
