Visiting Hours and Rules
Visiting hours at Alcorn County Correctional Facility are from noon to 3:00 p.m. However, the days an inmate is allowed to visit depends on the POD they are housed in.
POD 1 First Saturday - 3rd Sunday
POD 2 & 5 1st Sunday - 3rd Saturday
POD 3 & 6 2nd Saturday - 4th Sunday
POD 4 2nd Sunday - 4th Saturday
Minimum Non-Community Custody one day per normal visitation weekend.
Work Center Visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the first four Saturdays of each month. There is no visitation on the 5th Saturday or Sundays.
Maximum number of visitors is four per inmate. This number includes children. All visitors must be over the age of 18, unless the child is accompanied by a parent or guardian.
General Visiting Rules
Visitors must remain in the designated visiting areas. Any visitor leaving the designated areas will have their visit terminated.
Offenders and visitors will be prohibited from giving, trading, selling, or receiving anything to or from each other, other offenders, or visitors.
Tobacco and tobacco related products are prohibited in all MDOC facilities and property.
Combing of hair within the visitation area is prohibited.
Offenders and visitors must keep the area clean. All plastic bottles, paper, and other trash will be placed in trash containers.
At the conclusion of visitation, visitors will be prohibited from leaving the facility with any property or items that were not in their possession upon entering the institution.
At all times while on the grounds of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, you are subject to search of your person, vehicles, personal property, or any/all items you may have in your possession.
Guns, knives, ammunition, alcohol, drugs, weapons, or any instrument or tool that may be used as a weapon or any other items declared by the institution to be contraband are strictly forbidden. Contraband will be confiscated and violators will be prosecuted.
Acceptable Behavior during visits includes:
- A brief kiss and embrace upon entry and exit
- Holding hands
- Walking or sitting with arms around the shoulder or waist
- Hands resting on any part of the body not considered sexual
Prohibited Behavior includes:
- Hands on or fondling areas considered sexual
- Sexual activity
- Prolonged body kissing or body embracing
- Lip kissing except for the beginning or end of the visit
- Sitting in such a manner to expose to view areas of the body considered sexual
- No sitting in laps (does not apply to children under the age of 12)
- Sitting or lying on the grass
Dress Code
The dress code for male visitors is:
- Shirts must be worn
- No pants pulled down below the hip line
- No tank tops, sleeveless tops or bare midriffs
- No shorts above the knee
- No cut-off shorts, jogging shorts, or biking shorts
- Shoes must be worn
- Underwear must be worn
- No jewelry except a wedding ring, religious medallion, or medical alert bracelet
- Hats, caps, and bandanas will not be permitted (religious headgear and garments are allowed)
The dress code for female visitors is:
- Shorts at knee level or below
- No hip-huggers, cut-off shorts, jogging shorts or biking shorts
- Slits on skirts and dresses will not extend above the knee when seated
- No see-through clothing
- No tank tops, sleeveless tops, or bare midriffs
- Underwear and bra must be worn Shoes must be worn

Programs For Inmates
Inmates incarcerated at this facility can earn a GED while incarcerated and receive an adult basic education. Additional courses in computers, anger management, and financial management are all in place to benefit inmates through education. Substance abuse treatments are also available to inmates who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction.
