Lovelock Correctional Center
Lovelock Correctional Center is a mixed-custody state prison for male inmates that is located in Lovelock, Nevada. Lovelock houses medium-custody general population inmates and close-custody protective segregation inmates, along with a separate unit housing a small number of minimum-custody inmates. The total capacity for Lovelock is approximately 1,680 inmates.
This facility was constructed in two phases, with the first starting in August 1995. They built two housing units with 168 cells that are 80 square feet and can house two inmates. During the second phase, two more 168-cell housing units were built, plus two 84-cell units.
Lovelock Correctional Center was the center of worldwide media coverage in 2008 when former football star OJ Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison for kidnapping and armed robbery, with a minimum requirement of nine years. OJ Simpson was paroled from the facility on October 1, 2017. This sentence was not connected to the 1994 murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, for which Simpson was acquitted.

Lovelock Correctional Center offers a wide range of programs for the inmate population and an opportunity to enroll in educational classes in pursuit of a GED, high school diploma, or college degrees.
Lovelock’s legislatively approved Structured Living Program (SLP) is one of the most successful. SLP initially started as a 10-week military-style institutional orientation program. With the popularity among inmates, this program quickly expanded to a six-month regimen with opportunities for inmates to earn Merit Credits, attend classes, programs, education, attain jobs and participate in physical fitness training.
Lovelock offers vocational training in areas of dry cleaning, culinary food service, computers, horticulture, RESPECT, ServSafe, and automotive maintenance and repair. Lovelock also has its own medical and mental health staff serving the inmate population.
