Central Reception and Assignment Facility

Central Reception & Assignment Facility is the intake and central processing facility of male inmates for the New Jersey Department of Corrections. It was opened in 1997, and it is located in Trenton, New Jersey. This facility can hold approximately 700 inmates of all security levels.

When an inmate goes through processing, they undergo psychological and educational testing and are given medical and dental exams before they are classified. Once an inmate is processed at the Central Reception & Assignment Facility, they are transferred to their permanent facility to serve their sentence.

This facility also has a satellite work camp called Jones Farm. This is a minimum-security facility which houses low level, non-violent offenders who are serving short sentences, and they work in supporting roles for the main facility in the areas of janitorial and building maintenance, laundry, and landscaping.
