Ulster Correctional Facility
Ulster Correctional Facility is a medium-security prison for male inmates that is located in Naponich, New York. This facility is operated by the New York Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, and it is an intake center for new inmates in the state’s corrections system.
Because this is in an intake and processing facility, most inmates are only at Ulster for a few weeks.

Programs For Inmates
The inmate programs at Ulster Correctional Facility are limited because most inmates are at the facility temporarily for processing.
Aggression Replacement Training (ART)
A cognitive behavioral intervention program designed to assist individuals in improving social skills, moral reasoning, coping with and reducing aggressive behavior through the use of self-regulating exercises and mindfulness.
Family Reunion Program
The Family Reunion Program (FRP) provides approved incarcerated individuals and their families the opportunity to meet for a designated period of time in a private home-like setting.
The goals of the program include:
- Preserving and strengthening family ties that have been disrupted as a result of incarceration.
- Fostering positive and responsible conduct.
- Facilitating post-release reintegration into the family and community, thereby reducing the likelihood of recidivism.
Horticulture
Horticulture refers to the production, care, management and marketing of plants such as flowers, shrubs, trees, bulbs and turf. Training includes instruction and practice in techniques and methods of plant propagation, transplanting, pruning, cultivation, fertilization, and greenhouse production, as well as plant identification and insect control.
Senior Living Program
The Senior Living Program (SLP) is a unique and innovative program designed to meet the needs of the older male incarcerated population. The SLP participants reside in one housing unit to facilitate the community setting. A computer lab, classrooms, meeting rooms, recreation/exercise rooms, and staff offices have all been designed and built in the same unit. SLP residents participate in programs together to develop cohesive, pro-social skills to prepare them well for community reentry.
