Inmate correspondence should be addressed so that the full name and OPUS number of the inmate appears on the envelope. The person sending mail should be identified in the return address.
Starting Feb. 3, 2020, a pilot program began that changes the way mail is sent to offenders. ALL mail to offenders at Anson Correctional Institution must either be sent to a new address or electronically texted to a third-party vendor for vetting and scanning to the facility.
To help prevent contraband that threatens the security and health of staff and offenders, mail will no longer be accepted at Anson CI during the pilot, but will be returned to the sender.
All mail will now be screened by the third-party vendor, then scanned to the prison for prompt distribution to the offender. Find more information here regarding the third-party scanning system. Note: Authentic legal mail must still be sent to the offender at the facility address.
