Warren Correctional Institution

Warren Correctional Institution is a close/medium/minimum-custody prison for male inmates that is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. This facility is managed by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and can house approximately 809 inmates. The largest inmate population at Warren Correctional Institution consists of medium custody offenders.

The opening of the facility in 1997 permitted the consolidation of five smaller prisons in surrounding counties.

On August 18, 1997, the prison received its first medium custody C. The 168 single-cell building opened May 18, 1998. In August of 1999, the two modular dormitories opened, housing approximately 88 minimum custody offenders. Another 168, single-cell building was completed in August of 2004.

The janitorial products plant for Correction Enterprises, which produces soap and industrial cleaning products, was relocated to Warren from Harnett Correctional Institution. The plant was constructed by offenders participating in the Inmate Construction Program, working under the supervision of engineers from the Central Engineering section.
