McCormick Correctional Institution
McCormick Correctional Institution is a level 3, maximum-security prison for male inmates located in McCormick, South Carolina. It is operated by the South Carolina Department of Corrections and can house approximately 1,100 inmates.
Level 3 facilities are high-security institutions designed primarily to house violent offenders with longer sentences, and inmates who exhibit behavioral problems. Housing consists of single and double cells, and all perimeters are double-fenced with extensive electronic surveillance. Inmates at level 3 facilities are closely supervised and their activities and movement within the institution are highly restricted.

Visiting Applications
Your inmate must send you a visiting application. You'll be added to the inmate's visiting list once the application has been properly completed, submitted, and approved. It is the inmate's responsibility to let you know when you've been approved.
The number of visits that an inmate may receive each month is based on their security and custody level and may be further restricted by programming or by the inmate's behavior. The inmate will provide you with information about his visitation schedule, based on where he is housed.
Visiting Rules
Do not attempt to bring electronic devices – including activity fitness trackers and smart watches – into the visiting room. All visitors age 18 and older are required to submit to a pat/frisk search in addition to the existing search procedures.

You are only allowed to send letters, five pages of newspaper clippings or internet printouts, and up to 10 photos per envelope. Do not send your inmate cash, stamps, or any writing materials. You are not allowed to send anything to eat, drink, or smoke.
You can send books, magazines, and newspapers, but they must be paid for in advance and sent directly from the publisher or from a publication supplier (licensed bookstore).
SCDC sponsors four Inmate Package Programs yearly from Access Securepak. Family/friends can order various combinations for shipment to the inmate's institution. The packages contain a wide variety of snacks, candy, and seafood.

Programs For Inmates
- Education: Literacy and GED preparation, and other classes offered in conjunction with the McCormick School District Adult Continuing Education Program and Corrections Learning Network.
- Industries: A modern production facility producing upholstered furniture, modular office systems, and powder painting for metal products. The Modular Furniture Plant is unique in that, not only does it deliver its goods, but also must install its modular systems. The primary focus on installations is customer service and satisfaction.
- Health Care: Routine medical and dental care provided on site with 24-hour medical coverage.
- Programs: Religious services, volunteer services, recreational services, Alcoholics Anonymous, Faith based Character based Housing Unit, a Second Chance Program, a Step Down Program, have participated in the Unit Management Pilot Program, alcohol and drug abuse education, and "Impact of Crime" classes.
- Community Services: Provides an "Operation Behind Bars" program for at risk youth and adults to tour the prison and hear inmates describe what led to their criminal behavior and life inside prison.
