Hilltop Unit
The Hilltop Unit is a medium-security prison for female inmates that is located in Gatesville, Texas. This facility is managed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and can house a maximum of 341 inmates at the main unit plus 212 at the trusty camp. This facility houses inmates at the G1-G3 custody level, outside trusty, and youthful offenders.
Hilltop Unit sits on 1,300 acres and has agricultural operations that include Edible and Field Crops, Farm Shop, Regional Pest Control, Security Horses, Security Pack Canines, and Swine Finishing Operation. There is also a Garment Factory at Hilltop Unit that employs inmates who make TDCJ uniforms.

Visiting Hours and Rules
The visiting hours at the Hilltop Unit are on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Each inmate is allowed one visit per weekend. A maximum of two adults (18+) are allowed at the visit. Children 17 and younger will not be counted in the visitor number. A regular visiting period ;asts two hours and begins when the offender is seated.

Dress Code
The dress code at Hilltop Unit is strictly enforced.
- Clothing that is tight fitting, revealing, or made with see-through fabrics are prohibited.
- Sleeveless shirts and dresses are allowed, but must cover the shoulders.
- Shorts, skirts no shorter than three inches above the middle of the knee while standing, capri pants or long pants are allowed.
- Clothing with pictures or language that may be considered profane or offensive is not allowed.
- Sandals, flip-flops, and open-toe shoes are allowed.

What can you bring to a visit?
All visitors 18 years of age and older must have a photo ID. All other items must be kept in your vehicle except:
- A small wallet, clear plastic bag, or change purse
- $25 cash (in coins) for the vending machines
- Visitors with infants or small children may bring no more than three diapers, a supply of baby wipes, and two baby bottles (“sippy” cup for toddlers). These items must be stored in a clear plastic bag.

The Sex Offender Education Program (SOEP) has a four-month curriculum to assist sex offenders determined to pose a lower re-offense risk. This curriculum covers information on a variety of topics – Healthy Sexuality, Anger and Stress Management, Interpersonal Relationships, Cognitive Restructuring.
The Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) has an eighteen-month intensive treatment program in a therapeutic community environment and a nine-month moderate intensity program. The primary goal of the programs is to reduce the rate of re-offense and move the participants toward a more pro-social lifestyle.
