Visiting Hours and Rules
The visiting hours at the JW Hamilton Unit are on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Each inmate is allowed one visit each weekend. No more than two (2) adults, ages 18 and older, are allowed at the visit. Children ages 17 and younger can visit and will not be counted in the visiting number. A regular visiting period is two (2) hours in duration and begins when the offender is seated.

Dress Code
The JW Hamilton Unit has a conservative dress code that is strictly enforced.
- Sandals, flip-flops, and open-toe shoes may be worn.
- Clothing that is tight fitting, revealing, or made with see-through fabrics are prohibited.
- Sleeveless shirts and dresses are allowed, but must cover the shoulders.
- Shorts, skirts no shorter than three (3) inches above the middle of the knee while standing, capri pants or long pants are allowed.
- Length is not restricted for children ages 10 and younger.
- Clothing with pictures or language that may be considered profane or offensive is not allowed.

What can you bring to a visit?
A photo ID is required for visitors 18 years of age and older. All other items must be kept in your vehicle. No electronic devices are allowed in the visiting room. The only items allowed inside the visiting room are:
- A small wallet, clear plastic bag, or change purse
- $25 cash (in coins) for the vending machines
- Visitors with infants or small children may bring no more than three diapers, a supply of baby wipes, and two baby bottles (“sippy” cup for toddlers). These items must be stored in a clear plastic bag.

The Reentry Program
The Reentry Program provides a three-phased reentry program designed to prepare offenders for a successful return to the community after release from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
- Phase I – Identification Processing – assists eligible offenders in obtaining replacement social security card, certified birth certificate, and state identification card at time of release.
- Phase II – Assessment and Reentry Planning – completion of risk and needs assessment with individual case planning provided to those at moderate to high risk of re-offending.
- Phase III – Community Reentry Services – provides post-release individual case management, employment readiness training, and employment services with an emphasis on assisting the formerly incarcerated with obtaining sustainable employment.
- Veterans Reentry Services – assist veterans in obtaining a record of military services, completion of veteran's benefits application, linkage to military peer support services and continuity of care.
