Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility

Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility is a women's prison located in South Burlington, Vermont. It is operated by the Vermont Department of Corrections and can house approximately 150 inmates.

This facility was built in the 1970s and could originally house 88 inmates who were awaiting trial. In 2012, the facility's unsanitary conditions and lack of handicap access caused problems. Inmates also reported that they had no state-issued uniforms and had to rely on family and friends to supply them with clothing. This led to some major changes.

Inmates are now provided blue, teal, and khaki uniforms, and the living conditions have improved. However, it's still regarded as the worst women's facility in the state of Vermont to be incarcerated in.
