The Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail is a maximum-security correctional facility that is located in Mt. Olive, West Virginia. This facility is operated by the West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and it can house a maximum of 1,030 male inmates. This is the state of West Virginia's only maximum-security prison.
Inmates housed at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex are considered high risk and violent. Security includes razor wire fencing, electronic detection systems, a large observation tower, and electronic locking control systems.
The Slayton Work Camp is a 48-bed minimum-security unit on the grounds of Mt. Olive. It operates as its own entity outside the secure perimeter and is administered by the Mount Olive Correctional Complex. Offenders assigned to the Slayton Work Camp are non-violent and are deemed low-risk to the community.
