Saint Marys Correctional Center

The Saint Marys Correctional Center and Jail is a medium-security prison for male inmates that is located in Saint Marys, West Virginia. This facility can house approximately 620 inmates and is operated by the West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Formerly known as the Colin Anderson Center, this prison opened in 1932. Because of the aging offender population, this prison has a special unit to accommodate the needs of older inmates. Saint Marys has a relatively flat campus that meets the needs of those in wheelchairs and others with mobility issues. 

This facility also hosts a residential substance abuse treatment program (RSAT) which can house 108 inmates.

Programs For Inmates

St. Marys Correctional Center offers educational and vocational programming. They also participate in the Paws-4-Prison program, where inmates train rescue dogs as service animals.  Inmates must complete a 21-week training course before they are responsible for providing the dog with advanced obedience training and teaching specialized commands.
