Visiting Hours and Rules
Visiting hours at Prairie du Chien CI are as follows:
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 6:00PM – 9:00PM*
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays: 10:30AM – 5:30PM* (3 hour limit)
*No admittance during count (12:30-1pm) or one half-hour prior to the end of visiting hours.
Inmates are permitted only one visit per weekday and one per weekend for a maximum total of four visits per week.
General Visiting Rules
Visitors must be on the pre-approved visitor’s list to enter the institution. A maximum of six visitors will be allowed for a single visit (including children). Upon arrival, you will be asked to provide photo identification and will need to place it into a plastic sleeve that clips to your clothing; ID must be displayed during your visit.
You must sign a Visitor Register. Your hand will be stamped and you will be required to show this stamp upon exit. Once you leave, you may not return that day.
Cell phones, pagers, cameras or other electronic devices, personal watches, tobacco products, lighters, matches, pocket knives, and weapons are not allowed in the institution. Secured lockers are provided in the lobby for items that may not be carried into the institution (including wallet and keys).
No paper money, cameras, purses, or diaper bags may be brought into the institution.
Dress Code
The dress code has been developed to ensure a tasteful and wholesome family atmosphere in the visiting room at PDCI. Footwear and appropriate attire are required at all times during visits. All restrictions apply equally to men, women, and children; failure to comply will result in denial of entrance or removal from PDCI.
The following clothing items are prohibited:
- Transparent or translucent clothing
- Shorts that are shorter than fingertip length with the visitor standing with proper posture, arms straight down, fingers extended
- Skirts and dresses shorter than fingertip length plus tree inches with the visitor standing with proper posture, arms straight down, fingers extended
- Tops and dresses that are strapless, tube or halter style
- Camisoles and tank tops are only permissible when worn under other attire
- Tops and dresses that expose the midriff (front and/or back).
- Spandex or Spandex-like and Lycra or Lycra-like clothing.
- Tights or leggings of this material may be worn under attire of appropriate length as identified in this section.
- Exposed undergarments.
- Clothing with revealing holes, tears, or slits.
- Clothing or accessories with obscene or profane writing, images, or pictures.
- Alcohol and Gang-related clothing, headwear, shoes, logos or insignias.
- Any clothing that may have the potential to cause undue attention.
Video Visits
Every inmate at Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution is allowed to have video visits. They are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis as space is limited. Visits can only be scheduled by emailing [email protected].
Visitors should include in their email request:
- Your name and DOC # in the subject line
- First and last names of all visitors on the Zoom call (no more than 6 persons allowed)
- 1st and 2nd choice of date and time of visit.
Visiting schedule is as follows
- Monday - Friday 6:15 – 9:15PM
- Saturday, Sunday 10:15 -11AM 1:15 - 3:30PM
Each unit will be scheduled for one day every nine days. Visits will be scheduled every 45 minutes for a maximum of 40 minutes in length. Only one visit may be scheduled at a time.
