Taycheedah Correctional Institution
The Taycheedah Correctional Institution is a mixed-custody prison for female inmates that is located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. This facility is operated by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and can house a maximum of 750 inmates.
Taycheedah is the intake and assessment facility for all female inmates entering the custody of the Wisconsin DOC. TCI utilizes gender-specific guiding principles through treatment, education, and supervision.
Taycheedah's history dates all the way back to the early 1800's, when Governor James Doty built his home in Fond du Lac, which still stands on the institution grounds.
The average age of inmates at Taycheedah is 36. More than half have one year or less remaining on their sentence. More than 94 percent of inmates have a mental health diagnosis. Only one-quarter of inmates have not graduated high school or received their GED.

Visiting Hours and Rules
Visiting hours at Taycheedah CI are as follows:
- 2:30 PM through 8:30 PM Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM through 3:30 PM Saturday, Sunday, & Holidays
Visitors will not be admitted 35 minutes prior to the end of visiting hours.
Amount of Visiting:
- Four visits per week (Monday through Sunday)
- Only one visit per weekend (either Saturday or Sunday)
- Offender visitors may only visit one offender per day, one time per day
Length of Visits:
- Three hours per weekday and evening
- Two hours per weekend and holiday
General Visiting Rules
All visitors age sixteen (16) or older shall provide photo identification. Failure to pass metal detection will result in denial of entrance into the facility.
The following items are allowed to be brought into facilities by inmate visitors:
- Money, not to exceed $20.00 for each visitor
- Comb, pick or brush, limited to one for each visitor
- Up to two baby blankets for each child
- Up to four diapers for each child (diaper bags are not allowed)
- Up to two plastic baby bottles for each child
- One hand-held baby seat for each child
- Diaper wipes (shall be kept in a clear plastic bag)
- One pacifier for each child
- One coat and one pair of gloves for each visitor
- Headwear
- One facility locker key
Dress Code
The dress code has been developed to ensure a tasteful and wholesome family atmosphere in the visiting room. Footwear and appropriate attire are required at all times during visits. All restrictions apply equally to men, women, and children.
The following clothing items are prohibited:
- Transparent or translucent clothing
- Shorts that are shorter than fingertip length with the visitor standing with proper posture, arms straight down, fingers extended
- Skirts and dresses shorter than fingertip length plus tree inches with the visitor standing with proper posture, arms straight down, fingers extended
- Tops and dresses that are strapless, tube or halter style
- Camisoles and tank tops are only permissible when worn under other attire
- Tops and dresses that expose the midriff (front and/or back)
- Spandex or Spandex-like and Lycra or Lycra-like clothing
- Tights or leggings of this material may be worn under attire of appropriate length as identified in this section
- Exposed undergarments
- Clothing with revealing holes, tears, or slits
- Clothing or accessories with obscene or profane writing, images, or pictures
- Alcohol and Gang-related clothing, headwear, shoes, logos or insignias
- Any clothing that may have the potential to cause undue attention
Video Visits
Every inmate at Taycheedah Correctional Institution is allowed to have one 45 -minute video visit each week. They are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis as space is limited. Visitors must have previously completed a Visitor Questionnaire and be the inmate's approved visiting list.
Visits can only be scheduled by emailing [email protected]. TCI requests that visitors submit Zoom visiting requests a minimum of three business days in advance when communicating with the TCI Zoom scheduler.
Visits will be scheduled on the hour and half hour (3:00, 3:30, 4:00, etc.) and will be a maximum of 45 minutes in length.
The visiting schedule is as follows: Monday- Friday 2:30 PM – 8:00 PM. Holidays that fall on a week day will be scheduled from 8:00 – 4:00.
Visits are conducted using ZOOM. It is suggested that visitors download the ZOOM app prior to the visit to ensure accessibility. The app can be downloaded on their computer, laptop, cell phone, or tablet.
