How to Call an Inmate in Connecticut
You can receive calls from inmates incarcerated in a Connecticut state prison by setting up a prepaid AdvanceConnect Securus account or a direct bill account.
An AdvanceConnect account is a friend & family-owned prepaid calling account that allows you to receive collect calls from inmates/offenders and have the charges deducted automatically from your prepaid account.
The prepaid AdvanceConnect account puts you in control of your spending and ensures you can receive calls from correctional facilities.
This account offers you the following benefits:
- The maximum funding amount is up to $50.00 per transaction.
- You are able to receive inmate calls as long as funds are available in your account.
- You can add multiple phone numbers to your account so your loved one can reach your home phone, work phone, cell phone, other relatives, neighbors, friends, etc.
- Calls will connect to cell phones (subject to facility restrictions).
- You have 24/7/365 access to your account on the Securus website or by contacting them via phone.
Once you have created and funded your account, please allow up to 24 hours to receive calls. Your loved one should be able to dial your number directly and be connected.
If you choose to add an inmate debit account, the inmate will be able to call anyone who has a Securus account, not just you. Each time the inmate makes a phone call, the funds will be debited from your prepaid AdvanceConnect account.
Your phone line is open to receive calls as long as funds are kept in your Advance ConnectAccount. Please note a payment processing fee of up to $5.95 may apply for credit and debit card payments each time you make a payment over the phone or online. This fee does not apply to payments made by mail and all calls are subject to applicable taxes.
Due to process timings of the Securus system, you may be able to accept additional phones calls, which may cause your account to have a negative balance. If your account reflects a negative balance due to receiving additional calls during this time you are responsible for paying your account in full.
A Direct Bill account is a friends and family-owned calling account that allows friends and family members to receive collect calls from inmates and have the call charges billed directly from Securus to the account holder each month.
Friends and family members are required to pass a credit check in order to be approved for a Direct Bill account. For this account type, there is no fee to open this Account.
Customers that reside in the state of Alaska are pre-approved for a Direct Bill Account, and you will be automatically provided with a $50.00 credit limit.
You have 24/7/365 days of access to your account by calling us or visiting Securus online at www.securustech.net.
Calls connected to cell phones are subject to facility restrictions.
When you receive a call from an inmate and the call is answered, a brief message will be played that identifies a collect call. Information about the name of the correctional facility and/or the name of the inmate will also be provided.
