How to Call an Inmate in Vermont
Family and friends can’t call inmates who are incarcerated with the Vermont Department of Corrections. However, inmates do have access to phones and can make outgoing calls during approved hours.
The Vermont DOC uses the GTL Connect Network for their prepaid phone service. There is also the option of setting up a Debit Phone Account for your inmate through the Vermont Package Program.
AdvancePay Prepaid Account with GTL Connect Network
AdvancePay is the Connect Network’s fastest and most convenient phone service that connects friends and family members to inmates. When you create an AdvancePay account, you’re creating a prepaid calling service that allows your inmate to call your phone number using the money you deposit into the account.
You can start adding money and receiving phone calls immediately when you set up an AdvancePay account. You can receive a call at any time as long as you have a balance for at least a one-minute call in your account.
The GTL Connect Network has two options that make sure you won’t miss any calls from your inmate. You can sign up to get notifications via text message when your balance gets low. Or, you can sign up for AutoReload to automatically deposit funds into your account when necessary.
The features of an AdvancePay account include:
- Only your phone number can be called with the money in your account.
- You control expenses and call acceptance.
- It’s easy and quick to make mobile deposits via the ConnectNetwork mobile app or website
You always have the option to accept or reject a call. And, the value of each completed call is immediately deducted from your account balance.
Prepaid local calls cost $.039 cents per minute. Long distance calls cost $.069 per minute and international calls cost $.63 per minute.
The amount you choose to deposit into your account can vary depending on how much phone time you want.
You can make a deposit online into your ConnectNetwork account or over the phone at (800) 483-8314. There are several different payment options available for AdvancePay.
Debit Phone Account with the Vermont Package Program
The Vermont Package Program via Access SecurePak allows you to buy phone time for your inmate that they can use to call anyone, not just you. With this program, you can also buy commissary items and property for your inmate. Each inmate may receive one package per week with up to $85 in product.
With a debit phone account, local calls cost $.039 cents per minute. Long distance calls cost $.069 per minute and international calls cost $.63 per minute.
